# Templates

> Manage WhatsApp message templates from the command line

Template commands let you create, list, sync, and delete WhatsApp message templates directly from the terminal. Templates must be approved by Meta before they can be used to send messages.

## zeplo templates list

List all message templates in the current project. By default, every template regardless of status is returned.

zeplo templates list [--status <status>]
```

### Options

| Flag | Description |
| - | - |
| `--status` | Filter templates by approval status. Accepted values: `APPROVED`, `PENDING`, `REJECTED`, `PAUSED` |

### Examples

```bash theme={null}
# List all templates
zeplo templates list

# List only approved templates
zeplo templates list --status APPROVED

# List templates that are still pending review
zeplo templates list --status PENDING

# List rejected templates to investigate issues
zeplo templates list --status REJECTED
```

## zeplo templates create

Create a new message template using an interactive wizard. The wizard walks you through setting the template name, category, language, and body content.

The wizard will prompt you for:

1. **Template name** - A unique identifier for the template (lowercase, underscores only).
2. **Category** - The template category such as `MARKETING`, `UTILITY`, or `AUTHENTICATION`.
3. **Language** - The language code (e.g., `en`, `es`, `fr`).
4. **Body text** - The message body. Use `{{1}}`, `{{2}}`, etc. for variable placeholders.
5. **Header** (optional) - Text, image, or document header.
6. **Buttons** (optional) - Quick reply or call-to-action buttons.

### Examples

# Start the interactive template creation wizard
zeplo templates create

After completing the wizard, the template is submitted to Meta for approval. Use `zeplo templates list --status PENDING` to track its status.

## zeplo templates sync

Sync local templates with Meta/WhatsApp. This pulls the latest approval statuses and updates your local project to reflect any changes made directly in the Meta Business Manager.

zeplo templates sync
```

### Examples

```bash theme={null}
# Sync all templates with Meta
zeplo templates sync

# After syncing, list approved templates to see what changed
zeplo templates sync && zeplo templates list --status APPROVED
```

Use this command after making changes in the Meta Business Manager dashboard or when template approval statuses have changed.

## zeplo templates delete

Delete a template by its identifier. This removes the template from both your project and Meta.

```bash theme={null}
zeplo templates delete <id>
```

### Arguments

| Argument | Description |
| - | - |
| `<id>` | The template name or ID to delete |

### Examples

```bash theme={null}
# Delete a template by name
zeplo templates delete welcome_message

# Delete a template by its Meta template ID
zeplo templates delete 1234567890

# List templates first to find the one to delete
zeplo templates list --status REJECTED
# Then delete the rejected template
zeplo templates delete outdated_promo
```
