# Installation

> How to install and configure the Zeplo CLI.

## Prerequisites

* Node.js 16 or higher
* npm or yarn package manager

## Global installation

Install globally to use the `zeplo` command anywhere:

```bash theme={null}
npm install -g @zeploai/cli
```

Verify:

```bash theme={null}
zeplo --version
```

## Run without install

Use npx to run without installing:

```bash theme={null}
npx @zeploai/cli <command>
```

## Post-installation

After installation, authenticate with your Zeplo account:

```bash theme={null}
# Interactive login
zeplo auth login

# Or with email
zeplo auth login --email you@example.com

# Or with API key
zeplo auth login --api-key YOUR_API_KEY
```

## Environment variables

```bash theme={null}
# Set custom server URL
export ZEPLO_API_URL=https://zeplo.ai/api

# Set API key directly
export ZEPLO_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
```

## Troubleshooting

### Command not found

If `zeplo` is not found after global install:

```bash theme={null}
# Check npm global bin
npm config get prefix

# Add to PATH
export PATH=$(npm config get prefix)/bin:$PATH
```

### Permission denied

```bash theme={null}
# Reinstall with sudo (Linux/Mac)
sudo npm install -g @zeploai/cli
```
